Barefoot on the dixi toilet - Lars Terörde
Triathlon stories from the Kaiserswerther Kenyan
Is triathlon really such a dead serious matter? Is the modern triathlete a dogged fellow by nature? A look at the literature on the subject could almost suggest that there was a largely humor-free zone between training guides and autobiographies. Until now. Because Lars Terörde, who has been a committed amateur triathlete for almost a decade, jumps into the breach - with the force of a hundredweight. His equally hilarious and enigmatic adventure stories about the Kenyan from Kaiserswerth, which have already been included several times in the "Achilles' Verse" column on Spiegel Online, prove that between transition zones, slipstream bans and calf cramps, diaphragmatic training always comes into its own.
"Barefoot on the Dixi-Klo" tells with charming wit and a lot of tongue-in-cheek self-mockery about the mere mortal long-distance contender and his struggle with weaker self and permanent weight problems. About his duel with the archenemy in his own family: his brother-in-law, who is lazy about training, but also all the more talented. How does our white Kenyan manage the balancing act between work, family and training? Will he ever overcome the trauma of the Emscher Night Triathlon? Where on earth is Harsewinkel? What does the rise of his favorite club have to do with the Rheinsteig extreme run? Can he save his triathlete pride from his old school friend who, when they suddenly reunite, turns out to be a surprisingly fast runner? And last but not least: Will he survive the long distance in the Dutch stone with and against his brother-in-law?
